The Discharge of the Nile River
The discharge history of the Nile River was modeled at Aswan, Egypt using the MCM, and the results are presented below alongside Hassan's 1997 reconstruction of lake levels at Qarun Lake (used as a proxy for the Nile flood height). The MCM results compare quite favorably to this reconstruction and the known cultural evidence.
This figure also appeared in the Bryson et al. (2006) presentation given at the International Conference on Rivers and Civilization, which may be downloaded here.
